Vladimir Putin<\/a> hasn\u2019t been seen in public since April 1 but could make an appearance today to meet Donald Trump<\/a> envoy Steve Witkoff.<\/p>\n

Witcoff has reportedly already landed in Russia<\/a> and is due to meet the Russian president in St Petersburg. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s thought Putin, meanwhile, flew to the city during the night.<\/p>\n

His absence coincides with Trump\u2019s strong criticism of the Kremlin leader for the ongoing bombing of Ukraine<\/a> despite calls from the US for a ceasefire. <\/p>\n

Witkoff\u2019s apparent arrival comes hours after major Russian ballistic missile hit Dnipro in eastern Ukraine<\/a> yesterday, with at least person killed \u2013 a 42-year-old man \u2013 and five people injured.<\/p>\n

The strike hit a warehouse and caused a massive fire, regional governor Serhiy Lysak said on the Telegram messenger app.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear why Putin hasn\u2019t been seen publicly for 10 days. <\/p>\n

Although the 72-year-old has been shown shown daily on TV meeting regional governors and other Russian functionaries, these videos are seen by analysts as most likely pre-recorded.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s believed to the second time he has vanished for more than a week this year, sparking rumours over his health.<\/p>\n

There has been speculation in the past that he\u2019s undergoing surgery for serious medical conditions such as cancer and Parkinson\u2019s and some have even suggested he\u2019s topping up his plastic surgery.<\/p>\n

His lover Alina Kabaeva, 41, has also not been seen during the same period.<\/p>\n

Putin\u2019s last live public appearance was to meet the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik.<\/p>\n

Since then Russian forces have launched a number of strikes on Ukraine that have killed civilians, including nine children and 11 adults in Kryvyi Rih, home city of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s previously been reported that Trump is \u2018pissed off\u2019 at Putin\u2019s \u2018crazy\u2019 bombing.<\/a><\/p>\n

The US president said: \u2018I\u2019m not happy with what\u2019s going on with the bombing.<\/p>\n

is likely to focus on whether Russia will halt its onslaught on civilians \u2013 and agree a full ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>Writing about Putin\u2019s absence, independent news outlet Agentsvo said: \u2018In the previous three years, Putin did not have such frequent and long gaps in his work schedule in the first three months,\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u2018The last time the president was absent for such a long time was during the New Year holidays \u2013 he did not appear from December 29 to January 8 inclusive.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin on Thursday said Putin was\u00a0today (Friday) expected to why he believed the Russian leader\u2019s death was imminent, but he may have been referring to rumours over Putin\u2019s poor health.<\/p>\n<p>He told Eurovision News: \u2018He will die soon\u00a0\u2013 that\u2019s a fact \u2013 and it will all be over.
