depots\u00a0belonging to <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/russia\/\">Russia<\/a>\u2019s ministry of defence is engulfed in flames after an apparent explosion.<\/p>\n<p>Footage shared on Telegram shows a fireball erupting into the sky about 330 miles from the Russian border with Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The inferno is located in the Vladimir Region, in the Kirzhach District, near the village of Barsovo.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander Avdeev, Russian governor for the region, confirmed the incident on VKontakte, saying: \u2018An explosion occurred in the Kirzhach district. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Responsible services are working on the scene. More detailed information will be reported later. I urge journalists, bloggers, and residents to refrain from disseminating any information about the incident for safety reasons and in compliance with regional legislation until verified official data is received.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Russian state media Tass reported that residents of Barsovo are being evacuated as the fire continues to rage.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the explosion remains unclear and officials have veered off from commenting on it.<\/p>\n<p>Internally, Russian weapon depots, factories and rail routes have suffered in the hands of saboteurs fighting against the invasion.<\/p>\n<p>But Ukraine has also been targeting key infrastructure to slow down the army\u2019s advances and prevent replenishing of ammunition. <\/p>\n<p>The incident comes after Vladimir Putin launched brutal new daytime strikes on civilians in Ukraine leaving a trail of death and destruction with children among the injured.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Volodymyr Zelensky accused him of \u2018absolutely deliberate Russian terror\u2019, with at least 22 injured in Zaporizhzhia, and one woman killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Got a story?
