Mass deportations, a plan for \u2018ethnic cleansing\u2019 and tariffs on allies \u2013 this is what \u2018making America great again\u2019 looks like if Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s first 50 days in the White House<\/a> are anything to go by.<\/p>\n

It was five years ago that Steve Bannon, who helped run the US president\u2019s 2016 campaign, described his strategy to rule \u2013 overwhelm the media and the people. <\/p>\n

\u2018All we have to do is flood the zone,\u2019 he told PBS at the time. \u2018Every day we hit them with three things. They will bite on one, and we will get our stuff done, bang, bang, bang.<\/p>\n

\u2018These guys will never be able to recover. But we have to start with muzzle velocity.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s first 50 days have lived up to that idea \u2013 with a barrage of executive orders and policy reversals that are reshaping America\u2019s role on the world stage.<\/p>\n

To make sense of all this, Metro<\/strong> spoke with Jason Pack, fellow at Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and host of the Disorder Podcast.<\/p>\n

Here are the top 10 most controversial announcements to come out of the Oval Office since Trump\u2019s inauguration. <\/p>\n

January 20-25: \u2018national emergency\u2019 at US-Mexico border; suspension of asylum; attack on birthright citizenship<\/strong><\/p>\n

Within the first few days in the White House, Trump announces a flurry of immigration-related executive orders<\/a>, starting with declaring a national emergency at the southern border.<\/p>\n

As many as 1,500 active-duty troops are deployed to help secure the US-Mexico border \u2013 which Trump claims is overrun by cartels and criminal gangs \u2013 and prevent undocumented immigrants from \u2018invading\u2019.<\/p>\n
