data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/volodymyr-zelenskyy\/\">Volodymyr Zelensky<\/a> reportedly ended up apologising to <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/us-news\/\">US<\/a> President <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/28\/trump-meets-zelensky-white-house-crucial-talks-future-ukraine-22641642\/\">fiery Oval Office meeting<\/a> that resulted in his departure without a deal.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s special envoy to the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/middle-east\/\">Middle East<\/a>, Steve Witkoff, claimed that Zelensky said sorry and that the gesture marked \u2018progress\u2019 in ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/russia-ukraine-conflict\/\">Russia-Ukraine war<\/a> peace talks the US has been involved in.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Zelensky sent a letter to the president.
