Poland today after <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/russia\/\">Russia<\/a> launched a huge attack on Ukrainian infrastructure, Kyiv has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/vladimir-putin\/\">Vladimir Putin<\/a>\u2019s forces launched at least 67 missiles of various types and 194 attack and decoy drones in their latest attack on Ukraine \u2013 just hours after <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> had said the Kremlin dictator wanted to stop the war but had a \u2018secret reason\u2019 for continuing.<\/p>\n<p>Although there were no casulties, eight people were injured after missiles rained down on a residential zone in Kharkiv, destroying residential buildings and a local nursery.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian energy minister German Galushchenko said on Facebook: \u2018Once again, energy and gas infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine has come under massive missile and drone fire.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure All necessary measures are being taken to stabilise power and gas supplies.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Russia is trying to hurt ordinary Ukrainians by shelling energy and gas production facilities, without abandoning its goal of leaving us without light and heat, and causing the greatest harm to ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018While the danger continues \u2013 please stay in shelters.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Other sites of destruction included a gas pipeline in Ternopil, which exploded after a missile strike saw massive flames towering into the night sky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Head of Ternopil regional administration Vyacheslav Nehoda said: \u2018As a result of a night enemy attack in the Ternopil region, a critical industrial facility was hit by a rocket.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018There may be restrictions on gas supply.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Missiles also struck gas storage facilities in Poltava and Sumy regions, where numerous explosions were recorded, along with Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"646\" height=\"899\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22685369 lazyload\" alt=\"NATO scrambles fighter jets as Russia pounds Ukraine in mass strikes targeting energy infrastructure. means remain fully prepared for immediate response.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The latest Russian blitzkrieg came as the Trump administration has blocked Ukraine from access to US intelligence, including the ability to use power Western long range missiles to target Putin\u2019s military machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prominent Ukrainian activist and lawyer Serhii Sternenko said sarcastically: \u2018As part of their \u201cpursuit of peace\u201d, the\u00a0Russians carried out a massive combined attack against our electricity and gas infrastructure in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They used ballistic, cruise [missiles] Kh-101 and Kalibr, aircraft guided missiles, and UAVs.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The ruthless strikes at civilian energy supplies mean civilians face losses of gas and electricity for many days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents in Pivdenne, Odesa region, were told they would have no power for five days after the main transformer was destroyed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The strikes came ahead of scheduled because I don\u2019t think they have a choice,\u2019 the US president said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I also think that Russia wants to make a deal because, in a certain, different way, a different way that only I know, only I know, they have no choice either.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s attacks also came hours after Volodymyr Zelensky had proposed an end to energy strikes as the first step in halting hostilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Everyone must ensure that Russia, the only culprit of this war, recognises the need to end it,\u2019 he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This can be proven by two forms of silence: no attacks on energy and other civilian infrastructure \u2013 no launching of missiles, bombs, long-range drones, no military operations in the Black Sea,\u2019 he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian Telegram channel Pravda Gerashchenko said: \u2018Putin has once again shown how much he \u201cwants peace\u201d: residential buildings, civil, energy and gas
