intelligence-sharing to Ukraine in another <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/everything-ukraine-losing-donald-trump-pauses-military-aid-22663903\/\">gift to Vladimir Putin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CIA director John Ratcliffe said today this is part of the military aid cut \u2013 seen as <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/03\/putins-2-300-000-gift-sent-ukrainian-army-instead-22658165\/\">\u2018punishment\u2019 to Ukraine<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/28\/trump-meets-zelensky-white-house-crucial-talks-future-ukraine-22641642\/\">clash between the US and Ukraine presidents<\/a> in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>He told Fox Business Network: \u2018On the military front and the intelligence front, the pause (that prompted Ukraine\u2019s president to respond) I think will go away.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think we will work shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine as we have to push back on the aggression that\u2019s there, but to put the world in a better place for these peace negotiations to move forward.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This move could seriously hamper the ability to track and target Russian forces on the frontline and protect civilians.<\/p>\n<p>It also illustrates the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/zelensky-ready-sign-minerals-deal-work-trumps-strong-leadership-22667001\/\">Trump administration\u2019s willingness<\/a> to play hardball with an ally to force it to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear to what extent the US had cut back on the sharing.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns were raised yesterday after the White House <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/everything-ukraine-losing-donald-trump-pauses-military-aid-22663903\/\">announced the military aid cut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ivan Stupak, a military expert and ex-SBU officer, who described the cuts as \u2018sanctions\u2019 on Ukraine, told Metro that European allies would not be able to make up for the US intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u2018Intelligence is not connected just to the battlefield. Yes, we learn about Russian positions, how many tanks they have, or how many planes, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But we also learn about deployment of Russian troops, about the launch of cruise missiles, Shahed drones or anything else.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Every time we hear the air raid alarm, we go on our phones and check what the threat is \u2013 that is from US intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Is it an incoming ballistic missile? Is it drones? Do I need to find a shelter?
