US President Donald Trump<\/a> delivered his first address to Congress since returning to the White House on Tuesday, proudly declaring that \u2018America is back\u2019 to lawmakers in the Capitol.<\/p>\n

Delivering the longest speech by an American president in modern history, Trump used the opportunity to solidify his foreign and domestic policy agenda and heap scorn on his opponents, chiding Democrats for not applauding his \u2018astronomical achievements\u2019 since assuming office.<\/p>\n

Over the course of 99-minutes, Trump took the opportunity to list every single one of his achievements since his return to power on January 20, taking credit for everything from slashing the federal budget to renaming the Gulf of Mexico<\/a> to shaking up the trans-atlantic alliance over the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

parties began shouting at eachother, and Green, who waved a walking stick in protest, was escorted out of the room a short time later.<\/p>\n<p>As Trump spoke, other Democrats held up signs saying \u2018This is a lie\u2019 and \u2018No Kings here\u2019, while other wore blue and yellow, the colors of Ukraine\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of Democratic women wore pink pansuits with the word \u2018resist\u2019 printed on the back and stormed out of the chamber midway through the speech. <\/p>\n<p>After they were escorted from the chamber, Trump said \u2018There is absolutely nothing I can Ukraine<\/h2>\n<p><a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Trump<\/a> told Congress that Vladimir Putin has sent \u2018clear signals\u2019 he is ready to negotiate a peace deal in Ukraine and that Ukrainian President <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/zelensky-trying-save-ukraine-pandering-trumps-fantasy-world-expert-says-22667778\/\">Volodymyr Zelensky had sent him a letter<\/a> requesting a desire to return to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I appreciate that he sent this letter, just got it a little while ago,\u2019 said Trump, indicating a thawing of realtions following the pair\u2019s explosive argument in the Oval Office last week.<\/p>\n<p>Reading it out loud to the House, he said: \u2018We really do value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time that is convenient for you.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The president said he \u2018appreciated\u2019 Zelensky\u2019s response, and urged him to sign a deal which would <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/04\/zelensky-ready-sign-minerals-deal-work-trumps-strong-leadership-22667001\/\">allow the US to extract rare earth minerals<\/a> from Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also claimed he had spoken to Russian officals, who had signalled their willingness to sign a peace deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Simultaneously, we\u2019ve had serious discussions with Russia and have received strong signals that they are ready for peace,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Wouldn\u2019t that be beautiful?
