branded a \u2018jealous man soaked in self-pity who holds women in utter contempt\u2019 as he was given a whole life sentence for the murders of his former girlfriend and her mum and sister.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clifford, 26, began plotting the \u2018unspeakable\u2019 murders of Louse Hunt, 25, and anyone else who might have been home when he arrived at her home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, days after she ended their 18-month relationship.<\/p>\n<p>He held Louise captive for more than two hours, during which time he raped her in a \u2018violent, sexual act of spite\u2019 before shooting her with a crossbow on July 9. Cambridge Crown Court heard he had turned to \u2018poster boy for misogynists\u2019 Andrew Tate in the wake of the break-up.<\/p>\n<p>Clifford used the same crossbow to kill Louise\u2019s sister Hannah, 28, and a butcher\u2019s knife to stab their 61-year-old mum Carol Hunt, who was married to BBC racing commentator John Hunt, on July 9 last year.<\/p>\n<p>At his sentencing hearing today, Mr Hunt said he wanted to be able to read his victim impact statement to Clifford \u2018eye to eye\u2019 \u2013 but the cowardly killer refused to come to court.<\/p>\n<p>But carrying on as if Clifford was there to hear him, Mr Hunt said: \u2018Whatever sentence you\u2019re about to receive, whatever misery lies ahead for you in the next 60 years, remain that after your days on earth are done, on your dying day there will be no release for you Kyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The screams of hell, Kyle. I can hear them faintly now. They\u2019re going to roll the red carpet out for you.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The court was specifically chosen for Clifford\u2019s needs as a wheelchair user. I love you so much and I will for a very long time. I will always be here for you if you ever need me, please don\u2019t hesitate. I wish you all the best and take care of yourself too\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The difference was, we know now, that Louise meant every word whereas you simply lied.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You didn\u2019t love her enough to stop you having those two affairs in the spring of last year?<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Or to start planning to kill her and her family just days later. I love you so much and I will for a very long time. I will always be here for you if you ever need me, please don\u2019t hesitate. I wish you all the best and take care of yourself too\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The difference was, we know now, that Louise meant every word whereas you simply lied.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You didn\u2019t love her enough to stop you having those two affairs in the spring of last year?<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Or to start planning to kill her and her family just days later. And that a horrific rape on her was part of the plan. Your levels of misogyny are off the scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Louise\u2019s favourite novel from her schooldays was Harper Lee\u2019s classic, to Kill a Mockingbird.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She was captivated by the goodness of Atticus Finch both as a father and a lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She would often quote lines from the novel to match life\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018One of those quotes that comes to mind, right here in this moment is that of Miss Maudie reasserting Atticus\u2019 assertion that it\u2019s a sin to Kill a Mockingbird. She said \u2018Your fathers right. Mockingbirds don\u2019t do one thing except make music for us to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They don\u2019t eat up people\u2019s gardens, don\u2019t nest in corn cribs, they don\u2019t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That\u2019s why it\u2019s a sin to kill a Mockingbird. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018All their lives Carol, Hannah and Louise similarly spent their time bringing joy and colour and happiness to other people\u2019s lives. You killed three beautiful Mockingbirds, Kyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, to remind you, over a period of four hours you brutally killed Carol, waited over an hour until Louise came into the house.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You incapacitated her, raped her and when you realised Hannah was coming home, you shot Louise in the back. I can\u2019t imagine a more cowardly act. You couldn\u2019t look her in the eye. You murdered Hannah minutes later. So four hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A few weeks later I also spent four hours with them Kyle; in the funeral directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The usual room wasn\u2019t big enough for three bodies but they removed a partition wall so we could all be together.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I sat for a while with Louise to my right, she looked so peaceful and Hannah to my left. I couldn\u2019t quite reach to hold their hands at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Amy and I placed a photograph of Chester in Louise\u2019s\u2019 right hand. Carol was at the top of the room.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She was dressed in a beautiful orange dress she had bought for a wedding we went to a month beforehand. I stroked her hair and told her how much I loved her. I thanked her for being such a wonderful partner in life and wonderful mother. Even though the days are difficult and feel on many occasions, impossible, I will channel my inner Atticus Finch at all times. He said: \u201cI want you to see what real courage is. Instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand, it\u2019s when you know you are licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018And now comes the time when your fate on this earth will be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Every single person in the world, I\u2019m thinking of mothers and fathers in particular, especially those daughters, now expects the formality of a life sentence.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Never again to make choices of your own. To breathe fresh air only occasionally. To eat when someone else tells you to eat. But just remember one thing. Whatever sentence you are about to receive, whatever misery lies ahead for you for the next 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Remember that after your days on earth are done, on your dying day, there will be no release for you.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The screams of Hell, Kyle, I can hear them faintly now. The red carpet will come out for you.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At that point, when the person you could have been meets the person you are, you will realise your miserable fate will last for eternity.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hannah\u2019s partner Alex Klein, who she messaged to call the police moments before she was murdered, said of Clifford: \u2018You are a coward. Each precious life, so full of potential, of future successes and celebrations, torn away by your appalling violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The statements of John and Amy Hunt also demonstrated great courage and a determination that your terrible crimes will not define them or stop them leading the lives that Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt would have wished for them. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018They show a gentle heroism of which you, Kyle Clifford, can only dream.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Clifford turned to \u2018poster boy for misogynists\u2019 Andrew Tate, court told<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>During the trial, jurors heard an \u2018enraged\u2019 Clifford started plotting the attack on July 9 last year days after Louise called an end to their 18-month relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC told them: \u2018If he could not have her, no one else was going to, and he was going to take her family down with her.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In the days before the attack, he had searched online for how to purchase a crossbow and accessed pornography.<\/p>\n<p>Less than 24 hours before the murders, Clifford searched for the \u2018violent misogyny promoted\u2019 by controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n<p>The judge ruled jurors could not be told about the Tate videos because it would be \u2018deeply prejudicial\u2019, saying Mr Tate was \u2018almost a poster boy for misogynists\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Morgan told the court today that a friend of Louise\u2019s confronted Clifford about him watching one of Tate\u2019s videos \u2018which showed animals who had been drugged\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said: \u2018She asked the defendant why he was watching this \u2013 he said that it was funny.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Addressing Clifford\u2019s search for Tate\u2019s podcast the day before the murders, Ms Morgan said: \u2018As my Lord correctly noted\u2026 Andrew Tate can properly be described as a poster boy for misogynists \u2013 a poster boy for those who view women as possession to be controlled.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In that context, and in light of all the other background material, it is no coincidence, the prosecution submit, that it was Andrew Tate that the defendant turned to the night before he would go off to commit these acts of violence against women.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Clifford spent \u00a3350 ordering the crossbow, six bolts and a cocking device online. He also ordered an air gun, which never arrived, along with duct tape, a \u2018high level butchering knife\u2019 for \u00a389 and a length of rope.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-player\">\n<div
